CENTRAL CITY — Betty Galusha Cordsen, 85, received her angel wings and passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.

We can now celebrate her life every year on the Fourth of July. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home’s south location in Central City. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Please feel free to wear casual attire. However, Husker apparel is recommended.

Betty was born Feb. 18. 1930, to Truman and Cecile (Martin) Galusha in Central City. She lived her entire life in Central City. Betty received her education in Central City Public Schools, graduating in 1948.

She married Alvin Cordsen on July 25, 1948, in Central City. She was one of the first employees of Merrick Manor when it opened in 1965. She worked there for 32 years until her retirement in 1997. Betty was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. She also kept in touch with many of her school classmates and loved attending their reunions. She was a kind and caring daughter to her mother after her father died of a heart attack. Betty was the middle child of nine siblings and was the sister who remained in Central City after all her siblings traveled to and lived in locations worldwide. Betty was always the one that kept in contact with everyone. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally. She was so proud of each one’s individuality and their accomplishments.

Betty is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Randy Carlson of North Platte; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin “Bub” and Linda Cordsen of Central City, Thomas and Sue Cordsen of Central City and Daniel and Shelly Cordsen of Page, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Lance and Vikki Carlson, Brent Carlson, John (Angie) Cordsen, Cortland (Schavon) Cordsen, Sara Cordsen, Hart, Ryan Cordsen, Joe (Stephanie) Cordsen, Brett (Alexis) Cordsen and Karli (Paul) Chandler; three stepgrandchildren, LaShell (PJ) Marlow, Stephanie (Joe) Cordsen and Jamie (Kelton) Green; 11 great-grandchildren, Jack Carlson, Drew Carlson, Roger Stander, Cooper Cordsen, Sadie Cordsen, Korbin Hart, Blake Hart, Alexis Hart, Trevin Cordsen, Addison Cordsen and Presley Cordsen; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Sydney Horne, Gabe Horne, Skyleigh Waite, Tenley Truman, Allyssa Marlow, Taylor Marlow; a sister, Phyllis Brasher of Paradise, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Carolyn Galusha of Aurora and Wayne and Betty Galusha of Dixon, Calif.; and many extended friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; a brother, Truman Galusha; four sisters, Jean Galusha, Marietta Mullen, Evelyn Pine and Gertrude Bray; and a grandson, Wade Cordsen.
