Frank Eckhardt the son of Frank Adam Eckhardt and Christina Freehauf. He was a great Husband, Dad and a great Grandfather. He served in the Navy and Merchant Marines during World War I.
He was one of the early organizers of the Paramus Boys Club. A former Commander of the Paramus American Legion, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a past County Vice Commander of the American Legion.
My dad had been a crane operator on the Hudson River docks till the depression. When he was out of work awhile, we moved to Ohio when I was in the first grade, where he found work.
We didn't have a lot of money but we were a happy family. When we moved back to New Jersey, he got a job as a tool maker and a machinist at the Aluminum Co in Edgewater,N.J. When I graduated High School, he got me a job there till I left to join the army.
Frank and his wife, Evelyn Virginia Eckhardt (Hallstein), had two children; a daughter Geraldine Eckhardt and a son, Robert Eugene Eckhardt. He is loved and missed!
This bio was written by his daughter Geraldine who is my mom.
