'Lilly Mae' Boyd Ward was the daughter of Walter G. and Lillian Cartledge Boyd. She was born in Poplar Creek, MS, and later lived with her family and attended school at French Camp, MS, where she met her husband, Howell Ward. She had one son, Walter Glenn, also deceased, and three grandsons.

Although her obituary gives her age as 64, she was actually born in 1903, not 1913.
