Oldest son of Henry Chubb and Nancy Miller Chubb. Born in Halifax Township, Dauphin, Pennsylvania; died in Middletown, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.
John enlisted April 18, 1861 for a three year term in the 35th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, 6th Reserve, Co. G. at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg. He re-enlisted for the 200 Regiment of Penna. Vols., for the duration. He serve in the same company with his youngest brother David.
He was married and had 1 daughter, named Katie, who married a Kraft.
