Catherine “Cathy” Akins, age 62, passed from this world on March 7, 2015. Cathy was born on April 29, 1952 in Wake County to the late Harvey and Ina Mae Creech. Cathy served as a CNA and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her passions included the arts, music and great food. Cathy received satisfaction when others enjoyed her delicacies to include spaghetti and other recipes derived from the Food Network, however spaghetti was her favorite and was a former member of Pearl Baptist Church in Lincolnton
In addition to her parents Cathy was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Ronnie Akins, Sr.
Left to cherish the memories of her life are her sons, Ronnie Akins, Jr. and wife Nikki of Iron Station, Richard Akins and wife Ciara of Denver, daughter, Michelle Bailey and husband Darren of Jacksonville, a brother, Tom Creech and wife Millie of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Alysse Akins, Kailey Akins, Gia Akins, Chloe Akins, Michael Bailey, Stephanie Bailey and a grandson on the way, Gavin Akins, as well as, a very close cousin, Susan McQuade.
A service of remembrance will be held in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
