LEAKESVILLE -- Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Pierce Cemetery in Leakesville for Col. Vernon D. Pierce, 62, of Anniston, Ala., who died Nov. 28, 1996, at his residence.

The Rev. William Beard will officiate.

Col. Pierce, a native of Greene County, was a retired U. S. Army Colonel. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lewis Pierce Sr.

Survivors include his wife Martha Pierce of Mobile, Ala.; his mother, Imogene Pierce of Leakesville; four brothers, H. L. Pierce Jr. of White Oaks, Ga., Morrison Pierce, Austin Pierce and Kenneth Pierce, all of Leakesville; and five sisters, Mellonee Steverson of Gautier, Angie Peacock of Hattiesburg, Doris Turner, Catherine Jordan and Eleanor Robinson, all of Mobile, Ala.

Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville is in charge of arrangements.
