Morrison Rushing Pierce
Morrison Rushing Pierce, a lifelong resident of Leakesville, Miss., died Saturday at a family residence. He was 79.
Pierce retired from the Navy as a master chief [Petty Officer]. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Pierce attended Antioch Baptist Church in Leakesville.
Survivors include a son, William Pierce of Leakesville; two daughters, Susan Gayle Pierce of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Kristen Shiffer of Leakesville; three brothers, Austin Pierce and H.L. Pierce Jr., both of Leakesville, and Kenneth Pierce of Metairie, La.; five sisters, Melonee Richardson of Escatawpa, Miss., Doris Turner, Catherine Jordan and Eleanor Robertson, all of Mobile, and Angie Peacock of Petal, Miss.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery in Leakesville. Published in the Mobile [AL]Press-Register, 5 Jan 2009.
