Betty was a Life Member of the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department, Arlington County, Virginia's first fire company, along with her husband Marvin, who is and has been the President of the fire company for many years.
She and numerous other members were instrumental in the fund raising Bingo games hosted at the upstairs community hall in decades past. She also was a member of the Virginia State Firefighters Association and attended many state conventions along with other members of the fire company.
Betty was always willing to lend a hand to get the job done, or help anyone in need. She will most fondly be remembered by the public for being one of Santa's elves for the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department's annual Christmas with Santa events, where hundreds of gifts and stockings filled with treats, were and are given to needy and neighborhood children.

There will be a Memorial Service for Betty Binns, Monday, March 14th at The Carlin, 4300 N Carlin Springs Road, Arlington, VA 22203 from 1 to 3 PM.
