The June 1 1905 US Census of the 7th election district has him still alive residence 49 Elm ST Potsdam, St. Lawrence, New York head of house Age 61 Occupation Clergymen with son Donald M Kirby 27y occupation teacher Born United States and Virginia R Kirby Daughter 24y United States
Occupation housework residing with him also as well as a servant age 30 Canadian born US cit. Della Magnan
We find this from his sisters passing.....
Miss Josephine Kirby was stricken with apoplexy in New York city Wednesday and only lived a few minutes after the stroke. Miss Kirby was born in Brownville, N.Y., and passed her early life there. For some tweny years she was in Potsdam making a home for her brother, Rev. R. M. Kirby. After his death she went to New York and had since resided there with Miss Annie Clarkson. Interment was made at Brownville Sunday morning.

Whatever the reason she was not counted on the census as residing with him.
