Services for Etta McDonald Zeek of Bristow were Monday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Bristow. Officiating was Rev. Bill Liggett.
Mrs. Zeek was born June 17, 1906, in Woodsfield, Ohio, the daughter of Margaret and Archie McDonald, and died January 27, 1999, in Drumright at the age of 92.
She moved with her family to Oklahoma in 1918 where her father was a contract rig builder. They later moved to Michigan to farm but returned to Oklahoma where Mrs. Zeek met her future husband, O.B. Zeek.
The couple was married in Drumright in 1924, and owned and operated a motel in Marietta from 1949-1951. They purchased the Western Auto Store in Bristow in 1951. Mrs. and Mrs. Zeek sold their business in 1968, after which they spent several years traveling, fishing and visiting relatives. They were both involved with volunteer work at the Nutrition Center and Masonic Lodge.
Mrs. Zeek was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bristow, the Mission Action W.M.U., the Order of the Eastern Star in which she was a past Worthy Matron, the Bristow Hobby Club and former member of the Business and Professional Women of Bristow.
She is survived by a son, Lynton Zeek of Oilton; three daughters, Etta Marie Coyle of Carrollton, Texas, Neda Martha Bartle of Stillwater, and Verna Mae Roberson of Marietta; a brother, Victor McDonald of Michigan; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Mrs. Zeek was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Billy Ray Zeek; her parents; two brothers and three sisters.
Services were under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home of Bristow with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka
