Oved Gonzales, 88, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The Texas native served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Lockheed Martin as a Test Director, was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where he helped in the diversity group, and volunteered with Habitat For Humanity. He was a founding member of the Lacapia Church in Hendersonville, NC and a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Rincon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo Gonzales and Delia Lopez; and brother, Lorenzo Gonzales. Survivors include his children, Delia Gonzales-Mencer and Marty of Charlotte, NC, Lita Gonzales and Lea Hawkins Gonzales of Guyton, Tim and Sheila Gonzales of Orlando, FL; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Febe Garcia of Mercedes, TX and Belinda McKenzie of Fairfax, VA. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 155 Goshen Road, Rincon, GA 31326.
