BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES/ EXCERTPS

Edna is most often remembered as the
founder of the Circus Shop.

She founded the retail children's apparel store in 1946.

For both locals and tourists, her colorful circus horse at the store's entrance, became a landmark in downtown Petoskey.

Children from far and near, still want to sit upon its back––just like their parents and grandparents did so long ago.

Edna graduated from Charlevoix High School
and the University of Michigan's Dental
Program. After graduation she worked in
Charlevoix and joined her father,
Benjamin Brown, who established Brown
Motors in Charlevoix and Petoskey.

She always enjoyed traveling ever since
she first visited Europe in 1937 during
war preparation. Recently she had been
spending her winters in San Diego.

She married Paul McCartney of
Charlevoix in 1941. They were
parents to three children, Lynn,
Celia and Abbott.

In 1955, she married George W. Danser of Petoskey, who owned and operated a well known wholesale grocery business.

After George died in 1965, Edna rnanaged this
business as well as her own. Eventually
she sold it to Sysco Frostpack Company.

She was a long time member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Zonta Club, and the Petoskey Buslness and Professional Women's Club. Many considered her a role model for young women.

Edna helped children, not only in her store, but
by serving on Camp Daggett's Board of diroctors.

She was survived by three children:
and three grandchildren. She

Her husband, George W. Danser,
preceeded her in death; also her brothers,
Floyd and Lewis Brown; and sisters,
Marguerito and Laura Courior.
