St. Matthew's Church Addison Chapel, 5610 Addison Road, Seat Pleasant, Prince George's County, Maryland.
First established in 1696 as Addison Chapel, a "chapel of ease" for the local communicants who otherwise traveled to St. John's Episcopal Church Broad Creek, the present structure was constructed in 1801.
"The first known record of William Masters, Sr., who used the mark "W", is the purchase of pew no. 12 in the St. John's Broad Creek parish, in March 1715. (These records can be found in the Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore, Md.) This pew was sold by the family in June, 1770. William served as the church warden in the parish for many years." 1765-70: For five years, William and Mary Veatch Masters had pews in both chapels. In 1765 William Masters purchased pew number 7 in Addison’s Chapel, a “chapel of ease” on the Eastern Branch (near "Discovery" Plantation). Chapels of ease were erected for convenience of parishioners to attend service nearer their homes and not have to travel to the church on Broad Creek, which shows that William Masters Sr. still was living on “Discovery.” [Vestry Records of St. John’s Episcopal Church—Broad Creek, King George’s parish, vestry records, vol. 1, p. 94).

The Masters Genealogy states that William and Mary Veatch Masters were (probably) buried on their plantation, "Discovery," as was customary in that day, but they may have been buried in the churchyard of St. John’s Broad Creek, the sanctuary where their family worshipped over six decades, or they may be buried at the nearby Addison’s Chapel where they also attended the last five years of William's life.

She was a third cousin of Samuel Vetch (Veitch), Governor of Nova Scotia.

Discovery Plantation comprised 383 acres along what is now Southern Avenue. It was bounded on the SE by Oxon Run and a tract called Nonesuch.
A portion of Discovery lies along Southern Avenue (the boundary separating Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland today) between State Hwy 218 and State Hwy 5 at 36TH Street SE. It is predominantly on the Maryland side of the boundary, though bounded on its own southeast by Oxon Run and the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
The building located today on the NE corner of Southern Ave and Oxen Run Place happens to be the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3601 Southern Avenue.
