John was the son of Christian Bomberger* and Maria Biogs? (Aug 25 1687 Eschelbronn- abt 1840 Warwick). According some Ancestry trees, Christian was first married to Anna Barbara Storlin in 1701 (daughter of Christopher Storlin). He married Maria/ Mary Biogs in 1710. The family left Germany because of their strong religious faith and aversion to warfare. As the first settlers in Warwick (now Lititz) the family had to defend their farm fort against roaming bands of Indians and packs of wolves. However Christian did not even own a gun. The homestead is now called Sunnyside Farm and has been continuously inhabited by Bomberger descendants since 1732 (9th generation as of a newspaper article in 2012). John immigrated to Philadelphia in 1722. He received 200 acres of land according to his father's will which was probated January 6 1758. Yvonne Bomberger's family lore says he was buried in this Bomberger Cemetery, but the small stone marker crumbled more than a century ago.

In addition to his brother Christian, John had 6 sisters including:

1-Barbara Bomberger (1702-April 19 1771 Warwick) married Christian Hershey (died 1771)
2-Anna Bomberger (1705-1741 Hempfield) married John Coffman (1700-1755)
3-Elizabeth Bomberger Bucher
(1715-1779 Warwick) married Hans Martin Bucher (abt 1715-1779 BB) DNA testing proves descendants of their son Christian and others went to Ohio (some are buried in Moreland Cemetery, Wayne County, Ohio)
4-Margaret Bomberger (Dec 28 1720- 1795) married John Bowman
5-unknown daughter (died in 1722 aboard ship)

John was married to Maria /Mary Bausman /Bowman (no memorial). Mary was probably born in Germany in 1703 and died in Warwick in 1848. They were the parents of the following known children:

1-John Bomberger
2-Christian Bomberger
3-Joseph Bomberger (1742-1803), married Catharine Neff (born 1744+) on August 26 1764 (she has no memorial to discuss this history); daughter of Oswald Naef who immigrated September 30 1743 on the ship Robert & Alice. He died in Lebanon Township, Lancaster County before June 12 1758 when his will was probated. The will mentioned his daughter Catherine. Catharine's mother Mary Hess Neff also had a daughter Elizabeth with her first husband John. During the reign of Karl Ludwig there was an Oswald Neff living with six other Mennonite families in Erbesbudesheim on the von Rohan and Laroche estates and also in 1743 (earliest information available online).

They were the parents of:
(1)Johannes 'John' Bomberger
(2) Maria Bomberger Smith (May 31 1783-Nov 20 1852), married Peter Smith (Sept 18 1776-Feb 8 1843)
(3) Daniel Bomberger (March 25 1792-Jan 4 1859) married Barbara Funk (Nov 24 1795-Oct 24 1844) Daniel is linked to different parents here on Findagrave although contributor Anthony Kapolka interpreted a burial diagram that shows he and Barbara were buried with this family

4-Jacob Bomberger (1744-1829)
5-Catharine Bomberger
6-Maria Bomberger
7-Daniel Bomberger

*Many researchers now claim to have traced Christian (Christianus/ Krystain/ Christoph)'s ancestry back to grandparents (?) Martin Bombler (Sept 22 1607- 1657) and Catharina Neidhartz (abt 1607-1657; daughter of Hans 1580-1630). They were married on April 28 1632. Some have mistakenly claimed they are Christian's parents, but clearly they would be his grandparents, if not his great-grandparents, assuming any connection at all. Martin was the son of Jacob and Agness Bombler, born about 1582. There was an Agness Bombler (daughter of Martin) buried on August 17 1633 in Dagersheim, Württemberg, Germany. This might seem to conflict with family lore that the family originated from the town of Bamberg and therefore were referred to as 'Bambergers'. Eschelbronn, where John and his father Christian were born, is about 120 miles from Bamberg. Several Familysearch and Ancestry trees have indicated that Martin Bombler died in Eschelbronn, and was perhaps also born there. However, they mistakenly show Catharina as the 75 year old mother of Christian (1682-1742), so the accuracy and diligence of this research is in question.
