Linn's Annals of Buffalo Valley page 219 gives the statement of Edward Tate, a private in Capt., Overmier's company, who was wounded. Private Tate reported that a number of men were out on scout and were caught in a battle with Indians, being ambushed, the party scattered. Philip Seebold, whose authority was old Mrs. Overmeier, said the bodies were brought to her to wash and were buried at Dry Run. The two men killed were Lee and Rezner.
This is debatable as Major John Lee was killed along with several others Aug. 13 1782 and has a soldiers headstone along Rt. 15 near Winfield, the other end of the New Berlin Road from the old Overmeier place. This headstone is very near the Lee homstead where the family was killed. Major John Lee
