Christina Jordan was born May 26,1934 at Fort Madison, later moved and settled five miles west of Knoxville in Marion County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Jordan.
On September 14,1882,she was married to John W. Bittenbender who died in 1934. To this union two children were born, Fredrick and William. Fredrick passed away at the age of nine years. Mrs. Bittenbender spent all her life in Knoxville. She and her husband in early married life joined the Christian church and became very active in this work.
In her later years, unable to attend church, Mrs. Bittenbender would be found at home sitting in her chair with the Bible in her lap, reading to herself.
She was a great love of flowers and the outdoor life, which was her joy and pride. Death came at the age of 90 years and two days.
She leaves a son William R. Bittenbender, four grandchildren, Mrs. RV Mater of Knoxville, Mrs. Miles Byrum of Knoxville, Mrs. Otis Wilcutt of Knoxville, Mrs. Paul Wood of Lompoc, Calf.; also five great-grandchildren. She has two sisters, Mrs. H.B. Clark of near Pleasantville, Iowa, and Mrs. Ralph Kelly, of Knoxville; also three brothers, C. F. Jordan, John S. Jordan, and L. T. Jordan, all of Knoxville. Besides there are many fiends and neighbors to morn her loss
