Charlene Travis Stine, age 87, of Conover, died July, 18, 2014. Charlene was born July 12, 1927, to L. Claude Travis and Arabelle Canipe of Catawba County. She worked alongside her husband in their cabinet shop and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Charlene also loved her 20-year-old cat, Little Bit. She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved husband, Clarence Luther Stine. Survivors include her daughter, Frances E. Allen and husband, Stanley, of Catawba; son, Dwight Carroll Stine and wife, Luellen, of Charlotte; grandsons, Travis Stine and wife, Ming, of Boston, Massachusetts, and Nathan Stine of Wilmington; and sister, Betty Lynch and husband, Reid, of Newton. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, July 21, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Michael Kane and Chaplin Larry Bolick will officiate. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it was Charlene's wish that memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church via 2448 Emmanuel Church Road, Conover, North Carolina 28613. The family would like to thank the staff of Abernethy Laurels for the very good care they provided for Charlene during these last two years; and a very special thanks to Chaplin Larry Bolick for his ministry to her.
