Driver of Automobile Exonerated by Stricken Mother

ALLENTOWN BOY IS VICTIM

ALLENTOWN, Ga., March 9 --- The 6 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Howell was almost instantly killed this afternoon when Henry Wright, a tourist from Tampa, drove his Oldsmobile automobile into the child, the front wheels passing over the chest and the fender striking the right temple. Wright was exonerated by the mother of the child, who was only a few feet away and witnessed the collision.

Wright was driving at a moderate rate of speed along the street, according to witnesses, when the child darted suddenly out from behind a wagon directly in front of the machine which could not halt instantly. The driver brought the car to a stop; however, before the rear wheels could pass over the body.

The tourist is camping now at the Tin Can Tourist Camp at Dublin and was passing through Allentown on a visit when the accident occurred. He is held blameless, it was announced here tonight.

Wright is a veteran of the World War, the Spanish American War, and the Mexican border experience. He enlisted in the Canadian Army before the United States entered the war and served two years and a half in France. He was wounded fourteen times and gassed four times. He has a certificate of 100 per cent disability.
