Winifred Garland

Services for Mrs. Winifred (Grawe) Garland, 75, of Heritage Manor, formerly of 430 S. Grandview Ave., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof-Casper-Strueber Funeral Home, 1145 Locust St.

Mrs. Garland taught high school for many years at Dysart and Durant, Iowa. She also taught at Dubuque Senior High School for more than 20 years.

She was born in Nashua, Iowa. She was adopted as an infant by Dwight and Clio Grawe. She died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1992 at Heritage Manor.

She married Harold Garland on May 28, 1941, at the Little Brown Church in the The Vale, Nashua; he survives.

She was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was a member and officer of the PEO and Delta Kappa Gamma for many years.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Garland of Newport Beach, Calif. and Eric Garland of Viroqua, Wis., one granddaughter; and her natural mother, Mrs. Lucille Baker Kassar of Des Moines.
