James Kiff was a son of Andrew Kiff and Mary Mabie. The eldest of the Kiff siblings, was born in 1783 in Bedford, Westchester County, New York, before his parents' departure for points northwest.
He married Elizabeth Munger ("Betsy" ) on 5 September 1807 in Bloomville, Delaware County, New York.
Father of nine children.
