Isaac Gill was born on 20 April 1760 in New Britain, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a son of William Gill and Esther Wells.

Shoemaker.

Private, Third Company, Third Battalion, Bucks County Militia under Captain Henry Darroch during the Revolutionary War in 1780 and 1781.

He married
(1) ______ Murdoch in 1783 and
(2) Susanna Barber in 1789.

He removed from Bucks County, Pennsylvania to Northumberland County, Pennsylvania where he served in the Fifth Battalion of the Northumberland County Militia under Captain Laist in 1790.

Resident of Berlin Town, Northumberland County (present-day New Berlin, Union County) by 1795.

Resident of East Buffalo, Northumberland County (present-day Union County) in 1800.

He and his family visited or resettled temporarily in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in late 1800 or early 1801.

By 1802, he was in West Buffalo, Northumberland County (present-day Union County), where he lived on Robert Barber's farm and was listed as a "jobber" on the tax list.

In the spring of 1802, he dug the grave for Joseph Green in Lewis churchyard.

He removed to Hartley, Northumberland County (present-day Union County), Pennsylvania by 1812.

Resident of West Buffalo, Union County, Pennsylvania in 1820.

He joined his sons Thomas Gill and Matthew Gill in Centre County, Pennsylvania by 1822.

Isaac Gill died on 23 February 1823 in Potter Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.

Gravesite Details

The Spangler Papers incorrectly list his date of death as the "25th of February, 1823" based on a reading of the gravestone, but the marker itself lists his date of death as "23D DAY oF FEBY 1823" (see photograph).
