Anthony Spangler was born in Logan Township, Centre County (present-day Clinton County), Pennsylvania, a son of Frederick Spangler and Christina Bressler.

Farmer.

He married Susanna Barber Kleckner in 1841.

Lived on 85 acres of land in Porter, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania in 1844.

Purchased 2 acres of land in Logan, Clinton County, Pennsylvania on 23 August 1845, upon which a two-story four-bay wooden frame Greek Revival home was then constructed.

Removed to Albany, Green County, Wisconsin in 1856.

Early settler of Rock Grove Township in Stephenson County, Illinois in 1857.

"Held in very high esteem".

NOTE: Although his grave marker lists his birth date as 10 November 1818, his baptismal record in Logan, Centre County (present-day Clinton County), Pennsylvania gives his birth date as 12 October 1818.
