A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Toy J. Edge and Mary (Hicks) Edge Dyer, she was a retired bookkeeper, and a member of Christian Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Richie Richmond of Nashville, Tennessee; two brothers, Ronald Edge of Taylors and Larry Edge of Pickens; three grandchildren, Sonja Hurst, Kimberly Willis, and Bryan Willis; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Hurst, Andrew Willis, and Corbin Hurst.
Mrs. Whitfield was predeceased by one brother, Floyd Edge.
Visitation was held 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005 at the Wood Mortuary.
Funeral services were held 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005 at the Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Ernest Barr. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
