Private Family Cemetery: From Louisville, MS travel on Hwy 397 in SE direction until it intersects with Hwy 490 East in the Nanih Waiya Community. Then travel Hwy 490 East (toward Mashulaville) in generally NE direction for about 6.2 miles. The cemetery is located on the left (or NW) and is about 0.5 mile from the Hwy on private property.

Aaron Stewart was born 12 Dec. 1790 in North Carolina and died 8 April 1845 in Winston Co., Mississippi. Believed to be the son of Thomas Stewart born about 1765 in Scotland. Aaron married Sarah Brock in Dallas Co., Alabama on 20 April 1819. Sarah born 23 Feb. 1801 in Bedford Co., Tennessee and died 17 Aug. 1871 in Winston Co., MS being the daughter of Isaac Brock of TN. Into this union thirteen children were born.

1. Frances "Fannie" born 2 May 1820 in AL & died 22 Dec. 1849 in Winston Co., MS. The Married to William O. McAllister on 21 Sept. 1837 in Winston Co., MS.

Aaron was a private in the United States Army in the War of 1812 under Harpoon's Company 2 Mounted Gunmen Tennessee Militia. A military marker application was filed by Mr. & Mrs. R. W. Triplett and marker was placed on Aaron's grave and a dedication ceremony was held on May 6, 2006 by the Pushmataha Chapter of the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812.

Aaron came to Mississippi from Pickens Co., Alabama. He erected "The Gritter", the first grist mill in the county operated by water power, about 1832 near Fearn Springs in Winston Co., MS. He hauled his machinery from Alabama in an ox cart and it took him two years to move the machinery and get it set up. The mill was still standing but surrounding area was grown over with weeds and bush and could not be reached. This information came from an article written by Dean Eaves in book, "WINSTON COUNTY AND ITS PEOPLE", Copyrighted in 1980. Book was published by The Winston County Genealogical & Historical Society in Louisville, MS.
