Myra McCulley Gaasch, my great grand Aunt, was born on Christmas day in 1862 to Dr. James Andrew McCulley 1818-1896 and Sarah Jane Ward 1830-1919.

My great grand Aunt Myra was an accomplished watercolor artist and poet. She published a book of her poems in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1949. A copy of one of her paintings is included on this memorial. One of my favorite poems is the poem she wrote about her father and my great great grandfather, Dr. James Andrew McCulley.
The Country Doctor
(My Father)
The "Doctor" is in the days gone by
O'er country roads with snow banked high,
And over trackless prairies rode
To some poor sufferer's abode,
And eased the pain and dried the tear
and left with all a word of cheer.

He, on a dark and stormy night
Would leave his home and fireside bright
And brave the tempest fierce and wild
To aid a helpless little child.
He always went at duty's call
And was the trusted friend of all.

The golden rule his daily creed-
He helped all weak in time of need.
He was a wise and kindly man-
A truly Good Samaritan.
And when he answered his last call
Was loved and mourned and missed by all.

His tired feet no more will roam-
His Father called--and he went home.
(To my Father, Dr. James McCulley)

Myra is the granddaughter of John McCulley 1791-1868 and Catherine VanEman 1791-1857.

My cousin, Margaret McCulley-Chambers and I wish to thank Kris Thompson for her love and care of our Aunt's memorial.

NOTE: There is another Find A Grave for my Aunt Myra but she is not buried in that cemetery which is located in Bingham County, Idaho. She is buried here with her family. Mary McCulley-Hemphill
