Davis; children, Donald Ray, Johnny, and Martha Metcalf, daughter-in-law, Mary (Sam) Metcalf; great grandson, Baby Zain Wolfe; beloved sister-in-law, Marie Metcalf; and brother-in-law, Bis Ledford.

Don was survived by his beautiful wife, Margaret Byrd Metcalf; daughters, Carolyn Grogan (Alvin) and Peggy Yoder (Ralph) of Black Mountain, and Anita Hawkins (Don) of Asheville; step-children, Mary Wood of California and Robert Byrd of Swannanoa; 6 grandchildren, Derek Hamby whom he cared for as his own, Kelley Yoder Beard, Jason Yoder, Ellisha Parton, Chris and Josh Wolfe; 9 great grandchildren, Dustin, Ashlyn, Zachary, Brycen, Lora, Lexi, Jaden, Sydney and Jax; sister-in-law, Irene Metcalf of Carrollton, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Company after 28 years of service and owned/operated the Ideal Package Store in Black Mountain for 24 years prior to retirement. Six of these years, he worked both jobs and provided homes for all his children. To a working man, he was a millionaire.
