Mrs. Correll was born July 18, 1921 in Madison County where she grew up in the Paw Paw Community of Big Pine and attended Shoal Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She and her husband, Bud moved to Asheville in 1954. Evelyn was a long-standing member of the Biltmore Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where she was active in the ladies group, missions and always opened her home to visiting missionaries. She was faithful in taking her children to Sunday School and church.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, James Bunyan Ramsey and Maggie Fortner Ramsey; brothers, Max, Ralph and Burton Ramsey; sister, Shirley and son, Robert Correll who died in 1992.
Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Bud Correll and daughter, Marsha Correll both of the home; brother, Robert Ramsey; sister, Catherine Grooms; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 7th in the Woodlawn Cemetery located in the Oakley Community.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Madison Funeral Home.
