Robert Rex Ramsey, 76, of Fairview Road passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Mission
Hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Madison County and had lived in Buncombe County
for most of his life. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He retired from Southern Concrete Materials after 37 years of service.

Mr. Ramsey was a son of the late James Bunyon and Maggie Fortner Ramsey. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Gutherie and Evelyn Correll and brothers, Ralph, Burton and Max Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Ramsey; and daughter, Patrica Atkins and her husband, Eddie; and his sister, Catherine Grooms and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Ramsey will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home conducted by the Revs. Ivory Hunter and Thomas Freeman. Burial will follow at the Ramsey Cemetery with grave side rites offered at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. James Shields. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. immediately prior to the service on Tuesday.
