Mustered in August 28, 1862 as a Corporal. Promoted to 1st Sergeant May 15, 1863. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant July 15, 1864. Mustered out July 19, 1865.

He married his second wife Sarah Jane Comley Weed in Oshkosh on October 8, 1873.
