Gwen Tracey died Friday, December 27, 2013.
A memorial service for Ms. Tracey will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
Gwendolyn "Gwen" Napoli Tracy, of Spruce Pine, NC, passed away on December 27, 2013, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland, from complications from pneumonia and epilepsy at age 60. Gwen is survived by her sister, Frances; her nephew, Kenneth, and his wife, Jacalyn; her great-niece, Samantha; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was the daughter of Mary B. Napoli and Vincent B. Napoli, both deceased.
Gwen graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. In the Washington, DC area she was employed as a Federal contractor and as a secretary at the non-profit Electronic Industries Foundation. Gwen relocated to Spruce Pine in 1995 and earned her Associates Degree from Mayland Community College in 1999. After receiving her degree from Mayland, Gwen worked at the local hospital in Spruce Pine. She was the definition of a "people person," as she preferred to spend every minute she could around friends and family. Gwen was also a very talented photographer who loved sharing her work with others, and an active member of the congregation and the choir of the First Presbyterian Church in Spruce Pine. Her generous, fun-loving spirit will be missed by the many lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2 PM with visitation with the family starting at 1 PM.
