Dorothy Wheeler Stubbs, born April 16, 1925, died in Rocky Mount on December 25, 2013. She passed in her sleep with her family at her side. Dorothy, more commonly known as Dot-Dot, had a vivacious spirit that could easily fill any room.
Her family was her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Morris Stubbs, daughter, Earlyne Priscilla Stubbs, and six siblings. She is survived by her daughter Theresa Stubbs Nettnin, son in law, Lynn Hunt Nettnin of Rocky Mount, granddaughters Christina Kelly Nettnin, Elizabeth Nettnin Bradley, grandson Don David Bradley, Jr. all of Manteo, and close family friend and caregiver, Joann Blackett of Rocky Mount.
Dot-Dot was an avid reader, an accomplished pianist, skilled gardener, and active in her church. She served as an educator for thirty-three years and retired from Edgecombe County School System.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6:00pm to 8:30pm Friday, December 27, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday afternoon at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Dr. Chet Rains officiating.
Flowers are accepted. Donations may also be made to Tri-County Industries, 1250 Atlantic Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
