"Alexander Lemosn was born Jan 20, 1835 in Rockingham County, NC. He was the son of Thomas Lemons. Alexander grew up there. He was Literate. Some of his brothers taught school

Susan C Beck was born Dec 20,1837 in North Carolina. Her parents were Fredrick Beck 1813-1886 and Eleanor Ziglar Beck 1812-1892, who we-to-do farmers of Forsythe County. Susan could read and write.
Alexander and Susan were married Dec 1859 in Grainger County, TN. Their first four children were born in North Carolina, Thomas F in 1861; James A in 1863; John P in 1866 and Robert M 1868. Their last tree were born in Missouri, Eleanor C in 1871; George E. in 1873 and Laura J in 1876

In 1876 Lemons lived in a log house, the Alsup house, across the Clever Creek, above Cold Springs in the 1870s. They also lived in Webster County. Alexander was in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Susan died April 4, 1882 of tuberculosis at home on James River in Webster County. Alexander died of pneumonia Feb 26 1899 near Seymour. They are buried in the Gentry Cemetery on James River north of Diggins"
