Step Together
Ther will be the sound of marching feet in Skerries this week-end. Old comrades will be marching again shoulder to shoulder - how time is thinning their ranks; there will be martial music sounding, old stories retold, memories revived, and there will be the solemn hush that falls when the loneliest bugle call in the world, a call lonelier than the cry of the curlew over the bog,
"The Last Post" is sounded.

For to-morrow the men of Fingal will gather to honour the memory of three of their comrades, Thomas Hand, John McGowan and John Sherlock, who gave their lives for the country they loved in the War of Independence.

Albert Power's simple memorial will be unveiled so that they who pass by may read, remember, and drop a prayer for these three men of Fingal who died for Ireland.

It will be a day when the men of The Fingal Brigade will gather to recall far-off things and battles long ago - and the memory of the Heros, the inspiration that never dies.
