Edward G. Hayler, 75, widely-known Muncie resident and retired Nickel Plate Railroad commercial agent, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Robert W. Worley, in Anderson, yesterday. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio, on January 19, 1864, and came to this city in 1893 as freight agent for the L.E. and W. Railroad. Mr. Hayler was retired from the railroad service a few years ago.

Private funeral services will be conducted at the home of Mrs. Worley at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. The funeral is being conducted at Anderson because of the serious condition of Mrs. Hayler.

Mr. Hayler was a member of High Street M.E. Church, the Muncie Lodge of Masons No. 433, and the Chapter and Council. He was injured in an automobile accident several weeks ago in Madison County. Mr. and Mrs. Hayler had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on September 19, 1937.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Nellie Hayler; two sons, Rodney G. Hayler of Muncie and Commander Robert W. Hayler, now assigned to the destroyer division of the U.S. Navy; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Hertel of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Worley of Anderson; three sisters, Mrs. W.F. Ross of Lorain, Ohio, Miss Emma L. Hayler of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Irving Jackson of Sandusky, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Meeks Mortuary where friends may call after 4 o'clock this afternoon.
