Greyhound (brindle female) Rescued

Adopted from G.Re.A.T. Organization.
Foster Home - Eden, New York

Mohcan Liz raced at the Connecticut track. Mohcan means Magnificient. The only time Lizzy was not in her crate was to race and go to the bathroom on a leash.

Lizzy was a sad dog when we adopted her. She was fearless and had the battle scars to prove it. Lizzy's fur was gone where the racing numbers were fastened on her body. She turned out to be the sweetest girl and companion to Gorgie and to us. Lizzy could run like the wind. We loved to watch her run.

Lizzy never really knew how to play. She did not like to play with a ball or any throw toys. We would throw a ball for Lizzy to chase and she would give us 'a look' saying, 'you want me to get that'. Lizzy enjoy stuffed dog toys, especially if they had a squeaker or made a crinkle noise. Lizzy would run around the house with a stuffed toy for about 2 minutes. Then, plop down. She was done playing. Lizzy was a true 'Greyhound couch potato'. Lizzy would run outside at full speed for 5 minutes, stop, go inside and plop on the cool floor. She was done for the day. Lizzy hardly ever barked. When Lizzy wanted to go outside, she would put her head down and press her forehead on the door. Sometimes she would make little squeaks if she wanted something.

GREAT is a remarkable organization. The Foster Home Families do a fantastic job getting the Greyhounds ready for their 'Forever Homes'. GREAT was in our neighborhood for a 'Greyhound Walk'. We thought that would be an ideal companion for Gorgie after her sister, Meggie died suddenly.

We were very glad for the opportunity to rescue Lizzy. She lived the life of a Queen in her Forever Home.

Rest in Peace.
