Life's Work/Service/Interests: Idell was a people person and made friends that were valued for a lifetime. She loved people, loved to talk, and could relate well on many levels. Those who spent time with Idell recognized her loving nature and they usually developed a meaningful friendship. In 1951, she married her childhood friend and sweetheart, Ernest Hoke Oliver in the small community of Perry, Georgia. Their life as a young Navy couple began. They were sealed in the Provo Temple November 18, 1978. They lived and served in many places, but enjoyed most living and serving for eight years in Japan, where their only child, James Michael Oliver, was born and became the center of their lives. Dear sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend, Viola Idell Oliver, finished her work here in this world and returned home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.
Survived By: Son, James Michael Oliver (Susie); grandson, Matthew James Oliver; sisters: Mary Evelene Newsome, Peggy Roland, Faye Heimdal (Stuart) and Diane Timmons (Terry); and twenty-six nephews and nieces.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents, three brothers: Broadus, Chessie, Henry Pratt Jr. (Sonny); and nephew, Joseph Forbes.
