Marie A. Evans

Osage City - Marie A. Evans, 78, Osage City, died Monday Sept. 21, 1992, at an Osage City nursing home.
Mrs Evans lived from 1949 until 1976 in Topeka, Kansas, where she worked for the State of Kansas in the duplicating department at the State Office Building.
She was born December 12, 1913, in Vassar Kansas, the daughter of William and Minnie Ebel Priebe and grew up in the Vassar community. She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1931.
She lived in St Francis from 1932 to 1949, in Topeka until 1976, then in Iola until she moved to Osage City about two years ago.
Mrs Evans was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar.
She was married to C.E. "Jim" Evans June 21, 1932. He preceded her in death. Two sons Larry Joe Evans and astronaut Ron Evans, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son Jay Evans, Iola, Kansas; her mother Minnie Priebe, Osage City, Kansas; three sisters, Vi Reid and Wilma Stickle, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and Donna Bitterman, Ottawa, Kansas; a brother Bill Priebe, Osage City, Kansas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11am Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Mrs Evans will lie in state from 2pm to 4pm today at Crable Funeral Chapel at Osage City, Kansas.
