John Taylor 1838 - 1894
Elizabeth Bazley Taylor Evans 1839 - 1915
Mary Ann Taylor 1841
George William Bazley Taylor 1849 - 1911

William was a farm labourer, they lived with their family in Branscombe, Devon.

The 1871 Census states that William was a pauper, and Eliza was a washerwoman.

Eliza was widowed when William died in 1877.

The 1881 Census states that Eliza was recieving Parish Relief.

'POOR RELIEF' Taken from Devon Records Office
***********************************************
Eliza Taylor, in the half-year ending Lady Day 1878, received £3 5s 0d. William Taylor apparently received £1 for the same period. Perhaps this was backdated: he died in 1877, or perhaps it was to cover funeral costs. Both were on the list of 'outdoor' paupers, that is, they weren't resident in the Workhouse.

1880. Here the paupers were given reference numbers, indicating why they needed Relief. Eliza Taylor was Class 2 (total disability), and received £3 7s 6d in the half year ending Michaelmas 1880. She received the same amounts in 1881.

Eliza died aged about 64, she is possibly resting with William in St. Winifred's Churchyard, Branscomde, Devon.
