The oldest child of Louis and Charlotte was recorded in the church as Carl Friedrich August Drühl, born 12 Sep 1834 in Bützow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Godparents were innkeeper Carl Brusch in Parchim, child's grandfather Friedrich Druehl in Rostock, and child's father August Druehl.

At Miller's hotel, where he had been employed as a clerk by Carsten Christiansen, the death of Carl Druehl occurred Monday afternoon at the age of 69 years. The deceased was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerin in 1834 and came to Davenport in 1865. For a time he operated a grocery on the present site of the Steffen building and later moved to a farm in Bettendorf.

There survive him three sons; Carl, Frank and Edward Druehl, and three daughters; Mrs. Ida Schaeffer, Mrs. Elizabeth Garner, and Mrs. Luise Wermount.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Runge undertaking parlors, with interment at Fairmount cemetery.
