Roy Metcalf, 73, of Greeneville, died Saturday at the Johnson City Medical Center.
His family stated, "He went to sing and play with the Lord in his everlasting home.
"Roy was a follower of Christ who let his light shine wherever he went. He was a faithful member of House of the Lord Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather."
Mr. Metcalf retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 35 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years: Lois Jean Metcalf; his children and their spouses: Judy Ann Metcalf of Weaverville, N.C., Blenda and Mike Luecke and Patty Lou and Robert Metcalf, all of Marshall, N.C., David and Alison Lamons and Curtis Lamons, all of Greeneville, and Teresa and Darrell Farmer and Judy Kay Carlisle, all of Mobile, Ala.; his grandchildren and their spouses: Brian and Jennifer Buckner, Jerry and Jessica Chandler, Sophia Ridener, Nicole and Ryan Moss, Amber English, Stephanie and Jason Richardson, Sierra Collier, Jaime West, Tony Harrison, and Zak Bartlett; his great-grandchildren: Austin Buckner, Shane Roy Ridener, Kassandra Nava, Kayleigh Richardson, Jasmine Richardson, Emily Richardson, Paris Richardson, Lance Collier, and Alexis Guthry; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Offie and Marie Metcalf and a special brother, Frank Goldsmith, all of North Carolina; and two sisters: Linda Proffitt and Lula Gentry, both of North Carolina.
He was a son of the late Cager and Ella Metcalf, and was preceded in death by four brothers: Lunnie Metcalf, Lewis Metcalf, Luther Metcalf, and Robert Metcalf; and two sisters: Ladie Metcalf and Dorothy Lovelace.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
A committal service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in Harris Memorial Church Cemetery. The Rev. Lynn Mercer and the Rev. Ray Shelton will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Fillers, David Lamons, Jerry Chandler, Ryan Moss, Mike Luecke, and Kyle Harris.
