BRISTOL >> Richard Colby, 82, of Bristol, formerly of Torrington passed away Thursday, July 11, at Bristol Pines. He was the husband of Lois (Pond) Colby. Richard was born in Torrington, on Feb. 24, 1931, a son of the late Rose (Krukar) and George Colby.
He was a Career Officer in The US Navy for 30 years, retiring in 1981, receiving 8 Good Conduct Awards, Navy Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Medal. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son George Colby of Key West, Florida, step children Darla Bennett and Floyd Williams III of Washington, Gerald Williams of Torrington, Thomas Williams of Bristol, Timothy Williams of Kent, Rosa Williams of Maine, and Melinda Schipul of New Milford. He also leaves a sister Betty Wilbert of Goshen, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother George Colby.
Graveside services will be held at Goshen Center Cemetery, Tuesday July 16 at 11 a.m. http://www.phalenfuneral.com/.
