Clyde Roger Mosier, December 19, 1941 - August 12, 2012, resident of Saratoga, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 of cardiac arrest. Clyde was born in Memphis, TN on December 19, 1941 to Clyde and Frances Mosier. He graduated from Central High School in 1959 in Memphis and then went to Ole Miss where he was a member of DKE fraternity and received a degree in English in June 1963. Clyde joined the Air Force in 1964 and went to Officers Training School at Lackland AFB, TX, Navigator training at Mather AFB, CA, and Castle AFB, CA. He was an Electronic Warfare Officer on a B-52 crew stationed at Columbus AFB, MS 1964-1969. He did three tours in Vietnam. He separated from the service in 1969 and moved to San Jose to work for Fairchild Semiconductor. Soon, thereafter, he changed careers and was registered as a stockbroker for 41 years. He worked for Bache in Palo Alto, Shearson Loeb Rhodes in Cupertino and his own practice with LPL Financial in Saratoga. Clyde loved doing brokerage and taking care of his clients who were more than just clients to Clyde; they were his friends and family. He married his high school sweetheart, Lillian Link in December of 1963. Their son Ross was born in September 1967 and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. They moved to CA in 1969 to obtain care for Ross at Stanford Children's Hospital. Ross died at the age of 12 in 1980. Since Ross' death 32 years ago, the Mosier family has hosted a golf tournament and banquet at Stanford University Golf Course to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research. It was Clyde's mission to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Ross Mosier Classic has raised over $3,000,000 for the Ross Mosier Research Lab at Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Clyde was an active member in the Episcopalian Community as a member of St. Edwards in San Jose and later at St. Andrew's in Saratoga. At St. Edwards, he taught bible study, served on the vestry, was a lay reader and acolyte trainer. At St. Andrew's, he was a lay reader, acolyte, lay preacher, and helped start the Saturday service - "Saturday Night Live." Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Lillian and his daughter Emily Connell of San Jose, son-in-law Steve and three granddaughters, Eden, Anna and Catie, Sister, Nona Ray Reed of Garden City, Kansas, one niece Ann Reed, one nephew, John Reed and several cousins. Clyde's favorite aunt and uncle, Helen and Kenny Hayes (Sissy and Unk) preceded him in death. Clyde was always so protective of Sunday's being the "Lord's Day" and not conducting any business, and our Lord has thanked his good and faithful servant by bringing him home on a Sunday. We will celebrate his life at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga, 13601 Saratoga Avenue on Sunday August 26th at 4 pm. Clyde was a good guy with a good heart and sense of humor, a friend to many and loved by all.
