According to family history, he died of a fever while with the 64th NC

And per family records, he married Lucinda Roberts on October 5, 1853.

Nathan Black and Lucinda Roberts had the following children
1. Joseph Nathan Black - married SOPHRONIA AKA (CELIA S.)

2. Nathan Jerome Black - married LEONA CHARLOTTE PIKE. Both are buried in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cartersville VA.

3. Troy Elmond Black - married Pearl L and had 2 children; Joseph Nathan and Floyd. After Pearl's death, Troy married Marjorie Lillian Johnson. Both wives are believed to have been from ARVONIA VA WHICH IS IN BUCKINGHAM CO VA. Troy and Marjorie had David Black who lives in Farmville VA. David married Judy Marie Houser and they had my husband.

3. Montreville William Black... aka "Mont Black" b.NC 3/22/1836 married sisters Susanna Edmonds 10/10/1854 and then Mary (Polly) Edmonds 12/10/1874 - served 29th CSA. buried in Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Weaverville NC

4. Jesse A. Black b. NC 1840 married Mary Wise October 8, 1860 - served 29th CSA

5. George W. Black b. NC 1842 - served 25th CSA

6. William F. Black b. 1847 NC married Lucinda Harris 11/10/1877

7. Jacob A. Black b. 1849 NC, married to Mary J. Buckner 11/15/1899.
