Married Miriam, daughter of Elkanah and Meredith (Wyatt) Lyon on September 13, 1753. Miriam was born in Stoughton, MA on April 4, 1731 and died in Otisfield, ME on November 6, 1811.
They moved with their children to Maine in 1776 and settled in Otisfield on September 3, 1779. They lived on Lot 16, a little south of Spurr's Corner. Joseph Spurr is buried in the yard with a stone inscribed as Spyrr.
