GASTONIA - Herbert Sosnik, 81, of Gastonia died Feb. 7, 2010 at his residence.
Born in Winston-Salem, NC, he was the son of the late Charles H. Sosnik and Lillian Uderwitz Sosnik.
Mr. Sosnik retired from Wilson Lewith Textile Machinery. He was a graduate of NC State University and was a member of Temple Emanuel in Gasto-nia. Mr. Sosnik was an avid sports fan, bass fisherman and bridge player as well as a loving husband, father, and "Popi" to his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sosnik was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Sosnik.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Weinstein Sosnik; son, Mark Sosnik of Gastonia; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ron Edwards of Gastonia; grandchildren, J. Lee Smith, Michelle Smith Garrett, and Leah A. Sosnik; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Mitchell, and Aiden; faithful companion, Teddy.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hebrew Cemetery, 1801 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte with Dr. Charlie Brown offi-ciating.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
Pallbearers will be Richard Oppenheimer, David Oppenheimer, Arthur Weinstein, Jason Oppenheimer, Dale Burkett and Richard Osborne.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Weinstein, Victor Osborne, Charles Katzenstein, Howard Wainer, Bert Kalet, Marty Levine, Harris Clein, Jules Lasnick, Sonny Sherman, Saul Gordon and Richard Bernstein.
