Son of James Bird Farley Sr (1852-after 1930) and Deborah Elizabeth nee Grant (1856-about 1935), both from Ocean Co, NJ. His parents' burial locations are unknown.
His father's parents were Peter Farley Sr (1817-1891), an Irish immigrant from County Meath, Ireland and Sarah nee Bird (1827-1906) of Burlington Co, NJ.
They are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Tuckerton, Ocean Co, NJ.
His mother's parents were Enoch Grant Sr (about 1826-1876) and Deborah nee Gale (1826-1887) both of Burlington Co, NJ. Their burial location is unknown.

Walter married Caroline Katherine nee Hook Farley in June 1913 Newark, Essex Co, NJ. Caroline was the daughter of Adam Hook (1844-before 1901) and Elizabeth Schierick (aka Schivek, Schierich, 1855-before 1930), both of Scottish descent.

Walter and Caroline issued two sons:
-Walter Robert Farley (1915-2008), married Loretta Marie nee VanDyke about 1935. They had no known biological children and one adopted son, Robert Leroy Farley.
Walter was 93 years old when he was murdered on New Years Eve 2008 in Lakeland, Polk Co, Florida by his adopted son Robert.
In May 2009, Robert pleaded guilty to his father's murder and is still serving his prison sentence as of Nov 2020.

-Wilbur James Farley (1916-1962), married first Margaret "Peggy" nee Lank in 1941, no known children issued. Wilbur then married Lois Ann nee Lippincott in 1954. Wilbur died of a heart attack while at work at DuPont's Chamber Works in Deepwater, Salem Co, NJ.

Walter died in 1954 and his wife Caroline died in 1965. Caroline is named on this headstone with her husband (no dates listed, Order of Eastern Star symbolized above her name) but she is buried in Woodstown Friends Burial Ground, Woodstown NJ next to their youngest son Wilbur James Farley. According to the Woodstown Friends Burial Ground Database, Caroline was not a member of the Meeting.
