At age 20 Saford and his twin brother Clayton were hired by and joined Roy Hall (no relation) and His Blue Ridge Entertainers who were very popular in Roanoke, Virginia.
Saford & Clayton, performed music for many years as the famous Hall Twins.
Saford was active in Country & Western music his entire adult life and taught many others to play the fiddle.
Served in the US Army with Patton’s Ninth Division, 60th Infantry (the “Go Devils”) from which he emerged with a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, and the Croix de Guerre Etoile de Bronze, awarded by French leader Charles De Gaulle.
Saford and Clayton also performed with Tommy Magness and The Orange Blossom Boys as well as Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers among others.
