Evelyn Hettinger, age 77, Logansport, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Chase Center.

Born September 13, 1935, in Crawford County, Ind., she was the daughter of James and Marie Ridge Farris. She was married to John Hettinger who preceded her in death.

Evelyn had been employed at the Whitehouse Restaurant, Hap's Downtowner and Amelio's. She was a graduate of Camden High School and had been very active in the Cass County Democrat Party.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra (Albert) Birnell, and a son, John E. Hettinger, all of Logansport; brothers, Frank (Betty) Farris, Pittsboro, Ind., and Gary (Linda) Farris, Winamac; sisters, Alice Shaffer and Ruth Shaffer, both of Logansport; and Ivy Smith, Florida.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Albert (Katina) Birnell, Winamac, Ashley Hettinger and Nicholas Hettinger, both of Logansport, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

One brother, James Farris, and one sister, Wilma Green, preceded her in death

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Reverend Ken Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
