James "J.B." Burbage, Jr., of Moncks Corner, SC, a former mechanic for Daniel's Construction and Steven's Shipping, entered into eternal rest on the evening of March 29, 2013.

Mr. Burbage was born July 29, 1931, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of James Burbage, Sr., and Rachel Burbage Burbage.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the St. John's Bethel Baptist Church. J.B. was also a member of the Carolina Wanderer 's Camping Club.

Mr. Burbage was a very successful race car driver racing mostly at the Summerville Speedway, and he enjoyed working on small engines in his spare time. He also worked at Moncks Corner Chainsaw for many years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Burbage. Surviving are, his wife of 57 years, Athlyne Dangerfield Burbage; daughter, Monica D. Atkins and husband, Vince, of Moncks Corner; son, Jerry M. Burbage, Sr., and wife, Kay, of Bonneau Beach; six grandchildren, Jerry Burbage, Jr., Brian Burbage, Michael LaLonde, Richard LaLonde, Suzanna Atkins, and Avery Atkins; and three great grandchildren.

His funeral will be 2:00 PM, April 2, 2013, in the St. John's Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening.
