She was born at Saint Peter Port on the Channel Island of Guernsey and spent most of her early life there. She then traveled to Bristol, England around 1815, where she received her education. Some say she could recall the French revolutionary war, even having met Charles François Dumouriez, a general of the French revolutionary war. She married her husband, John Neve, on January 18, 1823. The two had no known children. They lived in Tenterden in Kent, England for 25 years until John passed away in High Hadden, Kent in 1849 when she went back to her hometown of Saint Peter Port. She died at Rouge Huis, Elm Grove on April 4, 1903, a month before her 111th birthday. Flags in Guernsey were lowered for her as a show of respect. She was one of the last living people from the 18th century.
